Happy New Year!
1. DANCE PARENT MEETING Our first Dance Parent meeting of 2017 will be scheduled soon. The agenda will be divided up into two sections: Dance Booster and Spring Production The Dance Booster agenda will include fundraiser ideas, and possible dance competitions and festivals for the students The Spring Production meeting agenda will include all details and information that you need to have about the spring concert (rehearsal calendar, dates, costuming, volunteer opportunities) 2. DANCE PRODUCTION FEE Just a heads up, the Spring Production fee of $50 is due on 2/3. If you need arrangements, please feel free to send an email. 3. WINTER CONCERT PHOTOS AND VIDEO Another huge thank you and congratulations on a job well done on Winter’s Bloom! It was a great success! Photos from the show are being worked on. The video footage is being worked on as well. We may have an encore performance to re-shoot some of the dances. Updates on the status of DVDs will be sent via email. 4. WHAT WE ARE WORKING ON We are beginning new units in all dance classes. Select classes will begin working on our Black History performance for February, details coming soon. This month period B4/Modern will begin the history of Modern Dance, the 1st generation. Period A3/Jazz will begin studying Jack Cole and further refine their jazz dance technique. All ballet classes will begin new ballet terminology. Ballet I will study the history of ballet, the beginnings, Ballet II will study the Classical era of Ballet, and Ballet III will study famous ballets throughout history. Reminder: Weekly Participation grades are input weekly. Please continue to speak to your child(ren) about the importance of coming to class prepared and on time, dressing out within 5 minutes and not talking and socializing in class. Points are deducted and this does affect their grade! The nature of dance requires extreme discipline, and I want the students to be as excellent and successful as I know that they can be.
